Aims By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to review the main grammar points and vocabulary of English 7 - Teaching aids: handouts - Skills: speaking, listening, writing. - Grammar: tenses B. Procedure I. Warm up Greeting and introducing - How have you been?/ What did you do during summer holiday?/ What’s your name?/Where do you live?/ Are there any newcomers?... II. Revision 1. The tenses T asks students to list as many as possible all the language items they’ve learnt. - Present simple - Present progressive - Present perfect tense - Simple future - Near future - Past simple - Past progressive tense => Ask sts to repeat the uses and forms of each tense. III. Practice Exercise 1:Change these sentences into other tenses (Present simple , Present progressive , Present perfect tense, near future , Simple future and Past simple, Past progressive tense) and add appropriate adverbs of time. 1. She is in Grade 8 2. They are playing soccer 3. She went to Hanoi last week 4. I will visit my sister next week 5. A. Aims By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to get to know about the topic of the unit and use lexical items related to leisure activities. - Teaching aids: Textbook, lesson plan, TV. - Skill: Reading, listening, speaking B. Procedure I. Warm up: Chatting II. New lesson 1. Vocabulary + trick (n) : trò lừa , trò chơi khăm + craft kit (n): bộ dụng cụ làm thủ công + tool (n) : dụng cụ + savings (n) : tiết kiệm + DIY = do it yourself + mountain biking (n): xe đạp leo núi Checking : R- O -R Activity 1. - T asks Ss to open the textbook to the picture, introduce Mai, Phuc and Nick. T asks Ss to guess what they are doing. a. What can you see in the picture? b. Why do you think Mai, Phuc and Nick are there? c. What are they holding in their hands? d. What are they talking about? e. Can you guess what Mai, Phuc and Nick like doing in their free time? - T plays the recording, Ss listen and read. Ask Ss to answer the above questions again. Vietnamese Activity 3: Learning Tip Draw Ss’ attention to the contexts when Mai said “Check out this book” and Phuc said “It’s right up your street” Together with Ss elicit these idioms. “To check out something” means to examine something or get more information about it in order to be certain that it is suitable (or true, or safe ) If someone is “right up your street”, it is the type of thing that you are interested in or that you enjoy doing. T asks: Is pet training right up your street? Have Ss do this task first then compare the answers with partners. Have them compare their answers with a partner. Ask for Ss' answers. Suggested answers: satisfied 2. relaxing, exciting 3. fun 4. boring 5.good - Call Ss to read the correct sentences aloud. Activity 7: Game Changing Partners Group of 4 or 6, or as a mingle activity. Choose one leisure activity in 2-3. In pairs, talk about it. Try to keep going for one minute each. When the time is up, find a new partner and talk about another activity. Ss may: - Describe the leisure activity. - Say if you have done this activity or not. - Share your feeling about the activity. III. Aims By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to understand a pie chart and know more about American’s leisure activities and how to express one’s leisure activities and pronounce correctly the two sounds /br/ and /pr/. - Teaching aids: Textbook, lesson plan, TV. - Lexical items: Names of activity and their verbs B. Procedure I. Warm up: Chatting + What do you like doing in your free time? / Do you like ? + What do Vietnamese students/people do in their free time? + How about the people in the USA? What do they do in their free time? II. New lesson Activity 1. Answering questions - T has Ss look at the pie chart 1 at page 8 closely to understand its contents, including the heading, subheadings, figures, colour codes, source and note. - Then ask Ss to answer 3 questions in the textbook. 1. How much leisure time did people in the USA have on an average day in 2012? 2. What did they do in their leisure time? 3. What were the three most common activities? Key: 1. In 2012, people in the US spent 5.1 hours a day on sport and leisure activities. 2. The main activities they did included watching TV, socializing and communicating, reading, and participating in sports, exercise and recreation, using computers for leisure, relaxing and thinking. 3. The three most common activities were watching TV, socializing and communicating, and using computers for leisure. Activity 2: Complete the table - T draws Ss’ attention to the V-ing in the pie chart. - Ask them to complete the table 2 with information from the chart. - Ss work individual to complete the table. - Check and confirm the correct answers.
