Knowledge: By the end of the lesson ss will be able to use present progressive tense to discribe changes of a place with “get”, “become”; improve listening skill. * Vocabulary: traffic, busy, noisy, dirty, high, modern * Grammar: Review Present progressive tense to show changes with get and become. 2. Skills: Listening, speaking skills 3. Attitudes: - Positive about their lesson. - Students know how to learn English. - Ss are interested in doing exercises. 4. Competence a. General capacity: self – study, communicative and collaborative, and problem solving ability. b. Specilized capacity: language capability II. PREPARATION 1. Teacher’s: lesson plan, text book 2. Students’: text book, note book III. METHODS, TECHNIQUES 1. Methods: Communicative approach, group Ss and T’s activities, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by practising 2. Techniques: Eleciting, group work, pair work, individual work IV. PROCEDURE 1. Organization - Greetings. - Who’s absent today? 2. Check the old lesson 2ss go to the board and read the dialogue in previous lesson 3. New lesson Activity 1. Warm up - Chatting with ss - Introduce the new lesson Activity 2. New form of knowledge skills Speak - T explains some words Traffic (n): giao thông busy (adj): bận rộn noisy (adj): ồn ào dirty (adj): bẩn high (adj): cao modern (adj): hiện đại - T gives situation: " Hoa's grandmother is 78. Five years ago, she was 73 and she was stronger then she is now”. - Ask students to make a sentence about her health. Hoa's grandmother is getting/ becoming weaker. - Explain the form - use of the Present Progressive Tense. Form : am / is / are + V-ing Use: used to describe changes with " get " and " become " + Notice: get / become + adjective Activity 3. Practice - Ask students to use above words and tructure to describe the changes of their hometown/ neighborhood - Ask students to work in groups - Call on volunteer from each group to show their ideas before the class - Call some ss go to the board and write the answer while others do orally - T corrects Suggested answers The traffic is getting busier. The houses are getting more modern. The town is becoming more beautiful. The buildings are getting taller. The streets are becoming cleaner/larger/noisier. Goods are getting more expensive. Activity 4. Production Call some ss continue talking about the changes of their hometown Listen - Set the scene : " Aunt Hang is talking to Lan on the phone. She is coming to visit Lan in Hanoi ." - T shows the dialogue which has 8 blanks. T fills in numbers 3, 5, 8, 10, 11 and 14 - Have ss guess then fill in the gaps with suitable words. - Ask students to listen to the tape and check their guess on P74. - Answers 1- that 7- week 4- Where 9- Thursday 2- this 12- speak 6- coming 13- my - Get some pairs to practice the dialogue (play roles) Activity 5.
