PROCEDURE 1. Organization - Greetings. - Who’s absent today? 2. Check the old lesson Ask ss to talk about changes in their hometown 3. New lesson Activity 1. Warm up - Chatting with ss What are difficulities of farmers’ life? (flood, get little money, droughts, hard work, no vacations, lack of clean water/ electricity, insects destroy harvests..) Do you think many people move to live in the city? Why do they want to go to the city? (good job, get more money, .) What problems may arise when so many people move to the city? (overcrowded, population increase, ..) - Introduce the new lesson Activity 2. New form of knowledge skills - T ask ss to look at the passage in the book and find new words - T teaches new words rural (adj) : thuộc nông thôn urban (adj) : thuộc đô thị , thành phố well-paying job : công việc lương cao plentiful (adj): nhiều struggle (v) : đấu tranh typhoon (n) : bão tố flood (n) : lũ lụt drought (n) : hạn hán destroy, strain (n): sự quá tải migrant (n) : dân di cư increase (v): tăng lên Activity 3. Practice - Let students read the text silently and answer the questions: What do many farmers do to solve their problem? (They move to the city so that they can get well- paid jobs). Exercise 1. True/ False statements 1. Many people from rural areas are moving to the city. 2. Typhoons, floods can’t destroy a harvest. 3. The increase in population has led to overcrowding in many cities. 4. Children always live with their parents. 5. Government are trying to solve migrants’problem. Exercise 2. Answer the questions 1. Why do many people move to the city? 2. What can destroy a harvest on the farm? 3. Who do children live with while their parents go and live in an urban area? Activity 4. Production Ask ss to talk about the problems of the migrants from country to the city. Key - Overcrowding in many cities - Increased population - Not enough schools or hospitals - Water and electricity supplies may not be adequate. - Families have to live apart Activity 5. Consolidation T repeats the content of the lesson. IV. HOMEWORK - Ss study the lesson - Ss prepare for next lesson: Unit 8. Write
