I.Warm up:
*Chatting :
- Teacher uses an electricity bill and a water bill to ask students some questions.
- Students listen and answer the questions one by one.
What’s this ? (It’s elecricity bill / water bill)
How much is your family’s water bill? / electricity bill?
Do you think it is enormous ?
Do you want to reduce the amount of elcectricity and wateryour family use?
What should you do?
Do you want to know how the people in other countries save energy?
II. Pre-reading:
1.Pre-teach vocabulary:

2.Pre- questions: Teacher gives students 3 questions and asks them to discuss with their partners to

III. While-reading:
1. Reading and checking:
- Studnts read the text on page 60, 61 to check their prediction.
*Possible answers :
a. No, they don’t. They think electricity, gas, water are not luxuries but
necessities.
b. Yes, they do.They use ordinary 100-watt light bulbs.
c. Yes, they do.They use energy saving bulbs instead of ordinary bulbs.
2. Reading for main idea:
- Teacher gets students to read the text again and dothe exercise a.
- Ask students to choose the best summary and explain why they choose it.

3. Comprehension questions:
- Students work in pairs:ask and answer the questions in textbooks .

effectively but also save money.
2. We can use energy saving bulbs instead of ordinary 100 watt light bulbs to

4. The purpose of the labeling scheme is to help consumers to know how efficient
each model is,
compared with other appliances in the same category so that they can save
money and energy.
5. Because when we save energy, we’ll save money and conserve the Earth’s
resources.
IV. Post-reading:
*Write-it-up:
- Discuss and write the ways to spend less on lighting .
+ Teacher: Now, work in your groups. Discuss what you do to spend less on lighting.
Each group chooses a secretary write your ideas on the poster.
-Use energy bulbs instead of ordinary 100 watt light bulbs.
-Turn off the lights before leaving your rooms.
-Keep refrigerator door closed.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen.I am a conservationist and today I am going
to tell you how to reduce the amount of garbage .
You know,nowadays,every household produces a lot of garbage.This not only
pollutes the environment but effects people’health as well.So it is necessary for you to
reduce the amount of garbage you produce.You can reduce this amount by :
-Collecting plastic bags,empty cans and bottles then send them to factories for
recycling .
-Using cloth bags instead of plastic bags . -Not keep solid waste with food waste .
-Using food waste to feed pigs,chickens and other animals .
If you follow these simple rules , not only will reduce the amount of garbage you
produce but your life will be safer.
IV. Post-writing:
*Discussion :Topic: “Why should we save energy ?”
- Ask students to work in group to list the reasons for saving energy .
-Call on some representative of somegroups to present in front of class .
