Aims By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know how to write an argumentative writing. - Teaching aids: Textbook, posters - Lexical Items: - Grammar: Giving opinions B. Procedure I. Warm – up: Check up - Get some Ss to do homework on the board. II. Pre – writing 1. Firstly, casual clothes make Ss feel comfortable. Secondly, wearing casual clothes gives Ss freedom of choice. They have rights to choose sizes, colors and fashion that they love. Thirdly, casual clothes make Ss feel self-confident when they are in their favorite clothes. Finally, casual clothes make school more colorful and lively. In conclusion, secondary school students should wear casual clothes. Wearing casual clothes is convenient, comfortable and fun. IV. Post – writing - Get Ss to write individually the argument: “should students go to extra classes?” - T gives some ideas and then goes around to help Ss with their writing V. After picking up everyone, the bus continued north on the highway number 1. It crossed the Dragon Bridge and stopped at the gas station to get some more fuel. Then, it left the highway and turned left onto a smaller road westward. This road ran between green paddy fields, so the people on the bus could see a lot cows and buffaloes. The road ended before a big store beside a pond. Instead of turning left towards a small airport, the bus went in the opposite direction. It didn’t stay on that road for very long, but turned left onto a road which went across a small bamboo forest. Finally, the bus dropped everyone at the parking lot ten meters from a big old banyan tree. Procedure I. Warm up ( getting started ) Questions: Do you like learning E? How do you learn E? - Hang the poster (page 13, Ask and answer the ways to learn E. - Call some Ss to tell theỉ own ways to learn E, T ticks on the poster. II. Presentation - Set the scene: use the picture: “Lan’s talking to Paula about her oral E examination” 1. Pre-teach vocabulary - examiner (n): người kiểm tra (situation) - oral examination (n): kiểm tra miệng (example) - written examination (n): kiểm tra viết (explanation) - candidate (n): thí sinh (situation/explain) 2. Structures * Direct and reported speech. Direct speech: “Do you speak any other languages?” Reported speech: She asked me if I spoke any other languages. Thay thế “If” bằng “Wh-question”, cách đổi giống như học ở lớp 8. What is your name? Practice - Play the Loudspeaker/ T. reads once - Ss reads silently, call some pairs to read - Check pronunciation - Ask Ss to read again and find out the reported speech - Hang the poster (page 23) on the board. - Divide the class into 4 groups/ group 1 sentences 1, 2, 3, 4 / group 2: 5, 6, 7 - Group 3: 8, 9, 10, 11/ group 4: 12, 3,1 4. - Let Ss read again the dialogue and discussion - Call each people/ group give keys. 1,2,6,7,8,9,10,14. IV. Production - Let pupils change these sentences 12678 into reported speech (Ss practice in pairs) Ex: S1: What is your name? S2: She asked me what my name was. .. V.
