Lesson 2: A closer look 1
A. Aims
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know about some historic places in
Viet Nam, and practice pronouncing / tʃ / and /dʒ / fluently.
* Lexical items: well, stone tablet, pavilion, heritage, architectural.
* Grammar:
* Skill: writing, speaking listening.
* Teaching aids: Book, lesson plan, USB, USB player.
B. Procedure
I.Warm-up: Matching
T asks Ss to match the words with the pictures.(page 60)
? Teacher: look at the names of some sections in the Temple of Literature - The
Imperial Academy.
- Students look at the pictures.
? Teacher: Read the first name? The second? The third? Next? And Finally?
- Some students read out the names from 1 to 5.
? Teacher: Match the names with the pictures.
Teacher gives feedback.

II. Vocabulary:
1. Vocabulary:
- well (n): giếng (picture)
- stone tablet (n): bia đá (picture)

2.Exercise 2:
Read the names in 1 again and listen to the recording. Complete the layout
of the Temple of Literature.
? Teacher: Look at the layout of the Temple of Literature - The Imperial
Academy.
? Guess what sections from 1 to 5?
Students: Look at the layout of the Temple of Literature - The Imperial
Academy and guess the answer.
? Listen to the recordings and check your answer.
Teacher plays the recording three times, once for Students to listen to the entire
recording, once for them to put the names of the sections in the layout, the last
for them to check their answer.

By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to master the form, the use of the
present and past simple passive.
* Lexical items: relic,regard, construct, Emperor,scholar, erect
* Grammar: the present and past simple passive.
* Skill: writing, speaking.
* Teaching aids: Book, lesson plan.
B. Procedure
I. Warm-up

Eg:
Active: People speak English all over the world.
Passive: English is spoken all over the world.
Form:
Affirmative:
S + be + V-ed/ p2 + (by sb).
Negative:
S + be + not + V-ed/ p2 + (by sb).
Use:
We use the present simple passive when the action is more important than the
person who does it.

Exe 1. Complete the passage using the past participle.

shouldn’t do while taking tourist trips.

B. Procedure
I. Warm-up: Game cards
Preparation: Ss have five pieces of paper on which the following phrases are
written: grow rice, speak English, keep the keys here, visit Van Mieu, do the
homework.
