I. OBJECTIVES:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Make suggestions and use “mind” to make requests and give responses.

- Read for information about some places of interest in Vietnam through the

advertisements.

* Grammar: Review: Requests with:

+ Would/ Do you mind + V-ing ?

+ Do you mind if I + V (present simple) ?

+ Would you mind if I + V (past simple) ?

* Vocabulary: - Ôn tập các từ có trong các tình huống của GV đưa ra.

One of you is student A and the other is student B. Look at the information about your role and use it to make requests and suggestions. Student A: - T asks Ss to use ''Useful expressions'' Student B: - T calls on some pairs to practice before class - T feedbacks and gives one suggested answers: A: Excuse me. Can you help me? He is sitting in the room => The boy sitting in the room is my brother Exercise 1: Look at the people in the schoolyard at Quang Trung School. Say who each person is. (Ss only work 2 sentences) Instruction: It’s time for recess and people at Quang Trung School are in the school yard. What are they doing? - T comments and gives suggested answers: 1. The man walking up the stairs is Mr. Quang. 2. The woman carrying a bag is Miss Lien. 3. The boy standing next to Miss Lien is Nam. 4. The boy sitting under the tree is Ba. 5. The girl standing by the table is Lan. Exercise 2: Look at this stall. Describe the goods for sale. Use the past participles of the verbs in the box. (Ss only work 2 sentences) - T asks Ss to exchange their answers - T feedbacks and gives correct answers: 1. The old lamp made in china is five dollars. 2. The doll dressed in pink is two dollars. 3. The toys animals kept in a cardboard are 10 dollars. 4. The green painted box is one dollar. 5. The flowers wrapped in yellow paper are one dollar. Activity 3: Practice * Request with: + Would/ Do you mind + V-ing? Exercise 3: Work with a partner. Use these words to make and respond to requests. - T asks Ss to work in pairs - T gives feedback and gives suggested answers: a. Would you mind moving your car? / No, of course not b. Would you mind putting out your cigarette? / No, of course not c. Would you mind getting me some coffee? / I'm sorry; I'm too busy right now d. Would you mind waiting the moment? / I'm sorry, I can't. I'm already late for work. * Request with: + Do you mind if I + V (present simple)? + Would you mind if I + V (past simple)? * Responses: Agreement: No, I don’t mind / No, of course not / Not at all / Please go ahead Disagreement: I’m sorry, I can’t / I’m sorry / It’s impossible / I’d rather you didn’t Activity 4: Further practice Exercise 4: Ask questions and give suitable responses.
