Son Tien Secondary School Lesson plan of English 9 Period: 9th Planning date: 03/10/20 UNIT 2: CLOTHING Lesson 3: Listening A. Aims By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to listen to the information to check the correct picture to show what is wearing. Practice listening skill - Teaching aids: textbook, Loudspeaker, posters, pictures - Lexical Items: announcement, missing, entrance - Grammar: Yes/ No questions B. Procedures I. Warm up: Find something where Teacher asks students some questions before asking them to match the phrases to the correct pictures - What do you call these clothes in English? - What kind of blouse is this? II. Pre- listening 1. Pre-teach Vocabulary - announcement (n): cáo thị, thông báo (example) - missing (n): lạc đường (situation) - entrance (n): lối vào (visual) • Checking- slap the board 2. Set the scene: Mary, 3 years old girl, has missed. Now we will listen to an announcement to know. What Mary is wearing * Prediction: - Divide class into 4 groups III. While- listening * Give study papers to students What Mary is weaning? Post-listening - Ask SS to look at their Study papers to describe be Mary Ex: Mary is 3 years old. She is wearing a blue short - Guessing game - Ask SS to guess their class mates by asking yes/no question Example: S1: Is he wearing a white shirt? S2: yes, he is S3: Is he wearing Jeans? S2: No, he isn’t S1: Is he wearing black trousers? S2: Yes, he is S1: Is that Nam? S2: yes, he is. V. Home work - Learn by heart new words - Do exercises - Prepare for reading * Loudspeaker transcript: Announcer (on Public Announcement) Attention, please. Here is a special announcement. A little girl is reported missing. She was last seen 20 minutes ago near the main entrance to the Car Fair. Her name’s Mary and she is 3 years old. She has short dark hair. She’s wearing shorts – blue shorts and a long - sleeved white blouse. She’s wearing a pair of shoes – brown shoes. She may be carrying a doll. If you see Mary, please bring her to the Information Desk. Her father’s waiting for her there. Aims By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know the history of the development of “jeans” and learn more vocabulary. - Teaching aids: Textbook, poster - Lexical items: type/style, fashion, material, designer, wear out, label - Grammar: B. Procedure I. Warm – up: ask and answer What do you like wearing to school? Do you like wearing jeans? Do you know anything about “jean cloth”? Ss answer II. Pre – reading 1. Pre-teach vocabulary type = style (n): loại, chủng loại, kiểu dáng (explanation) fashion (n): thời trang (explanation) material (n): chất liệu, vải (realia) designer (n): nhà thiết kế (explanation) wear out (v): mũn, rách (realia) label (n): nhón hiệu (realia) * Checking: R - R 2. Matching prediction Time Events 1. 18th century A. Jeans became high fashion 2. 1960s B. Jeans were worn by workers. 3. 1970s C. Jeans became cheaper 4. 1980s D. Jeans became popular with university students 5. 1990s E. Sales of jeans went down - Have Ss guess individually and write their prediction in their notebooks. III. While – reading 1. Checking prediction - Have Ss to skim the reading text and try to check their predictions - Check the prediction with books closed to reinforce Ss’ memory Key: 1. B 2. D 3. C 4. A 5. E 1. IV. Post – reading - Have Ss read the text again and do task a) in textbook - Call some Ss to write the answers on the board - T corrects if necessary.
