A. Aims
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to read about the three different schools
to understand the details; talk about these schools.
- Lexical Items: words relate to the topic
- Skills: reading and speaking skills
- Teaching aids: Textbook, teacher’s book, pictures and posters
B. Procedures
I. Warm-up: Brainstorm
- Tell something about Da Lat

II. Pre – reading cool flowers
1. Vocabulary: Matching
- title (n): tiêu đề
- subject (n): chủ đề
- crazy (adj): kì dị, lạ thường
- messy (adj): lộn xộn, bừa bộn
- strange (adj): lạ
- shape (n): hình, hình dạng
2. Pre-questions
- T hangs the poster with three questions on the board.
1. What type of text is it?
2. What’s the title of this page? What’s the topic?
- T runs through the questions.
- T gives the instructions: You quickly look at the text and answer the questions
in about 2 minutes.
- Ss discuss with their partners in their table and answer the questions.
III. While-reading
* Activity 1: Read and check (Part 2 p. 22)
- T gives the instructions: Quickly read the text then check your ideas.
- T checks Ss’ understanding.
- Ss do individually then compare with their partners.
- T gets Ss’ answers then corrects.
Answer key:
1. It’s an e-mail.
2. The title is ‘ A room at the crazy House Hotel, Da Lat’. The topic is
Nick’s weekend at the Crazy House Hotel.
* Activity 2: Comprehension questions (Part 3)
- T hangs the poster with the four questions in Part 3 p. 22.

IV. While - speaking
- T gives the instruction: Each of you creates a new room for the hotel and draws
a plan of the room.
- Ss do individually in about 3 minutes.
- Show the plan to a partner and then Ss describe their rooms in pairs.
- T calls some Ss show their partner’s plan to the whole class and describe it.
- Other Ss and T listen and vote for the best plan. T can give marks for Ss.
- T asks Ss to keep their plans for the next lesson.
V. Homework
- Learn by heart all the vocabulary.
- Read all the texts fluently.
- Write about one school which you like best.
- Do the exercises: 1, 2, 3 in the workbook P. 7, 8
- Prepare the new lesson: Unit 2: Lesson 6: Skills 2.

A. Aims
- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to listen to get information about
rooms and furniture and write e-mails to describe a room/house.
- Skills: listening and writing skills.
- Teaching aids: Textbook, teacher’s book, picturesposters, loudspeaker
B. Procedures
I. Warm-up: Chatting
- T asks Ss about the content of the previuos lesson.
- T asks Ss to describe Nick’s room in the hotel.
- T corrects Ss’ mistakes.
II. Pre – writing
1. Writing tips
- T shows the writing tips p. 23 then explains anything Ss do not understand.
- T asks Ss some questions.
How many parts are there in an e-mail to your friends ?
What are they?
What should you remember when writing each part?
- Ss answer.
- T corrects Ss’ mistakes.
2. Part 2 p. 23
- Ss look at Nick’s email on page 22 and identify the parts in the e-mail. Check
and confirm the corrects answer. if there is not much time, T can use this e-mail
as a model to teach the email parts.
+ The subject: Weekend away.
+ Greeting: Hi Phong and Mi,
+ Introduction: How are you? ...... crazy.
+ Body: Da lat is nice ....... at home.
+ Conclusion: You should ...... Nick.
III. While - writing
* Write - it - up
- T shows the e-mail in part 3 p. 23 then runs through.
- T gives the instructions: Read the e-mail, correct it then write the correct
verson in the space provided.
- T models the first one.

- Ss write in groups of 4 or 5 on a large-sized piece of paper.
- T walks around to see and helps Ss.

IV. While - listening
1. Open-prediction
- T sets the scene: Nick’s parents are describe their room at the hohel.
- T shows the pictures in part 1 p. 23
- T runs through the pictures.
- T gives the instructions: Guess where to put the furniture for the room.
- T models one.
- T checks Ss’ understanding.
- T gets Ss’ prediction.
2. Listen and check.
- T asks Ss to listen and check their prediction.
- T checks Ss’ understanding.
- T plays the recording twice.
- Ss listen then compare and share their answers.
- T plays the recording for the third time.
- Ss listen again and check.

Nick’s mum: Nick’s staying in the Tiger. We’re staying in the Bear room.
There’s a big bear near the door. The bear is actually a fireplace. In the far
corner, there is a window. The shelves are right in front of it. Next to the shelves
is a big bed. There’s a wardrobe next to the bed.
Nick’s dad: Oh, there are also two other windows in the room. In front of these
windows, there’s a sofa, a table and two stools. We like the room because it’s
comfortable.
- T reminds Ss to keep their home as well as their room tidy and clean.
V. Homework:
- Finish your writing: part 4 p. 23
- Do the exercises: E 1, E 2 in the workbook P. 15

Lesson 7: Looking back + Project
A. Aims
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to review some vocabulary: types of
house, rooms and furniture; review the use of the prepositions of place, there is /
there isn’t, there are / there aren’t.
- Skills: listening, speaking and writing skills
- Teaching aids: Textbook, teacher’s book, pictures, posters, loudspeaker
B. Procedures
I. Warm-up: Chatting
- T asks Ss some questions. How many rooms are there in your house ?
What are they? Name them?
What are there in your livingroom?/ bedroom?/ bathroom?/ kitchen?
- T calls some Ss to answer these questions.
- T and Ss give some comments then T gives marks.
II. Presentation/ Practice
1. Activity 1: Vocabulary
- T asks Ss to look at the box in part 1 p. 24 then T runs through all the words.
- T asks Ss to put the words into the correct groups, you may add more words.
- T models one.
- T checks Ss’ understanding.
- Ss do this activity individually then compare their answers with a partner.
- T asks some Ss to write their answers on the board.
- T and Ss correct together.

a) Prepositions of place

- T ask Ss to use appropriate prepositions of place to complete the sentences.
- T checks Ss’ understanding.
- Ss do individually in about 2 minutes then they compare with their partners.
- T gets Ss’ answers by dividing the class into two groups. One by one student
from each group comes to the board and writes the answers.
- T controls, corrects, gives marks then praises the winner.

IV. Further Practice: Communication.
- T shows the picture, runs through.
- T models the way to ask and answer.
- T divides Ss into groups of 6.
- Ss work in groups and take turns to draw a cat in the house in the book. Other
Ss ask questions to find the cat
- T goes around to observe Ss working, collects their mistakesand errors and
discuss them with the whole class.
V. Homework
- Do the project (p. 25 ) at home:
1. Ask your friends the question: “ Which house do you want to live in? Why?”
then exchange.
2. Draw your own strange house. Tell your friends about your house.
- Prepare the new lesson: Unit 3: Lesson 1: Getting started.
