Son Tien Secondary School Lesson plan of English 6 Period 68th Planning date: 27/02/21 Unit 8: Sports and games Lesson 7: Looking back + Project A. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Have a brief overview of several sports and games. - Use the lexical items related to the topic 'Sports and Games' - Use the past simple, the present simple. - Use imperatives to tell someone to do something or to give a direct order. - Write about sports and games (name of the game, equipment, rules ) 2. Competence: Communication, Co- operation, Self – learning capacity, Creative capacity 3. Quality: studious, responsible and honest. 4. Skills: speaking, writing and reading B. Teaching aids: Textbook, pictures, projector, loudspeaker. C. Procedures * Warm up: What is your favourite sport / game? - Ask 2 - 3 Ss to come to the board and talk about their favourite sport/ game. - Give remarks and marks. I .Activity 1: Vocabulary: Write the name of the game or sport the 4 words belong to( Ex 2- p.24) - Play games: finding friends - T divides the class into 4 teams: A, B,C, D. - Team A and B hold the cards with the four words; Team C and D hold the cards with the name of the game or sport. - T asks Team A and Team B to quickly find the correct names of the game or sport from team C and D. The teams with more correct answers and also the faster will be the winner. * Key: 1. cycling 3. boxing 5. Basketball 2. football 4. table tennis II Activity 2: Grammar 1. Fill in the blank with the words to complete the passage.(Ex 5-P.24) - Ask Ss to work of in groups of five or six to fill in the blank with the words to complete the passage. - Ss write their answers on the poster and tick them on the board . - Give corrections if necessary. - Which group has more right answer and also the faster will be the winner. * Key: 1. play 2. hear 3. game(s) 4. sports 5. Famous. 2. What do you say in these situations (Ex 4- P.24) - Have Ss work in groups of five. - Ask Ss to role- play these situations Ex: - Student A, B, C are feeding the animals at the zoo. - Student D, E use imperatives to ask their friends to stop feeding: “Don’t feed the animal’’ - Move around the class and help Ss if necessary. - Ask some groups to role- play before class. - Give feedback and corrections. * Key: 1. Please, stop making noise. 2. Go out to play with your friends. 3. Don’t feed the animals. 4. Stand in lines, boys! 5. Don’t tease the dog 2. Match the questions to the answers.(Ex 6 P.24) - Have Ss work in groups of five. - Ask Ss to read the questions and answers once or twice. Activity 4: Writing and Talking about sports/ games. - Have Ss read the passage about the game “Blind man’s bluff” - Explain new words and anything difficult for Ss. Make sure they understand everything throughly. New words: - blindfold: người bị bịt mắt - touch (v): đụng, chạm - hint: gợi ý nhỏ In the previous lesson (Communication), T told Ss to work in groups of 5 or 6 at home, choose one of their favorite sports /games and write about it. * Cues: Name of the game: How many players: Equipment: (ball/ bat/ stick .) Suggested answer: The game: Tug of war. What you need: a rope, an open space, five players or more, a referee. Rules: 1. An equal number of players pick up each end of the rope. 2. The players begin tugging the rope when the referee gives the signal. 3. Each player pulls backwards as hard as they can. 4. The teams continue pulling until the center of the rope crosses where the referee is standing. 5. The game ends when the referee declares one team has successfully pulled the past the center. V. Homework - Summarize the main point of the lesson. - Prepare Unit 9: Getting started Period 69th Planning date: 27/01/21 UNIT 9: CITIES OF THE WORLD Lesson 1: Getting started A. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Master the names some continents, countries, cities and landmarks where people speak English. (Vocabulary: continent, egg-shaped, capital, major city, place of interest) - List the words to describe continents, countries, cities and landmarks in the world. 2. Competence: - Develop creativeness to protect and preserve the nature and the environment. - Create the culture and nature of our country. 3. Qualities: - Express the love to the beauty of the places of the world. - Respect the culture and the nature of our countries and other countries. B. Teaching aids: Student’s books, textbooks, laptop and projector, etc... C. Procedures * Warm up: Greeting Matching: - T shows maps of Part 3 Page 27. Which continent is Vietnam in? - T presents new lesson. I. Pre- speaking: Pre- questions: - T shows the pictures of Sydney and Big Ben on the screen. Ask Ss to work in group and answer the questions. 1. Which cities are in the picture? Where are they? 2. Which continents are they in? II. While- speaking: 1. Activity 1: Listen and read. - Ask Ss to listen to the conversation twice. - Give Ss time to practice reading in pairs. - T gets some pairs to read out the dialogue. - T corrects pronunciation if necessary. 2. Activity 2: Read the dialogue again then tick True (T) or False (F) (Part 2. P 27- pair works) - Ask Ss to work in pairs in 5 minutes. - Call some to do. - Remark. 1. Knowledge: - know some vocabularies about continents, countries, cities and landmarks - Pronounce sounds /əu/ /aI/ correctly. 2. Competence: - Communication - Self - learning capacity, Creative capacity , Co - operation 3. Quality: hardworking, responsible, co- operative. 4. Skills: Listening and speaking, writing 5. Grammar points: use of superlatives of long adjectives B. Teaching aids: textbook, computer, projector C. Procedures Planned by: Tran Huy Thong 5 Son Tien Secondary School Lesson plan of English 6 I. Warm up - Have Ss work in 2 teams - T shows adjectives - Ask sts to find out short adjectives and long adjectives they have learned? - Get them to match the words in A with their opposites in B - Give feedback. Explain some parts of the body. - Ss repeat the words.. * Keys: old - new dangerous - safe quiet- noisy dry - wet boring - exciting clean - dirty historic - modern cold - hot cheap - expensive II. Presentation 1. Activity 1: Create word webs. - Have Ss work in groups of four. Tell them they can use the words in 1. - Encourage Ss to add other adjectives. Point out that some adjectives can not go with particular nouns ( Ex: we can not say' long/ short city or rainy people). - Ss go to the board to write their answer. (S by S) - Check the answer. Explain to them some new words. * Key: - City: beautiful, peaceful, exciting, modern, big, polluted, safe . - People: nice, friendly, unfriendly, open, noisy, interesting . - Food: delicious, awful, good, tasty - Weather: bad, wet, hot, cold, rainy - Building: old, modern, tall, new 2. Activity 2: Listen and write the words. Writing/Speaking - T asks ss to write about their classmates, using superlatives of the long adj. - Ss write in pairs - T calls some Ss to present their writing in front of the class.
