Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Have a brief overview of several sports and sports events (Olympic Games) - Use lexical items related to sports ad games: sports vocabulary (achievement, fit, ring and marathon) - Information about some sportsmen/ sportswomen (name, age, countries they come from, fields, achievements ) 2. Competences: Communication, ability to use language, self-study 3. Quality: hardworking, responsible and honest. 4. Skills: listening and speaking 5. Grammar points: present simple and past simple tense. B. Teaching aids: Ss’ books, text books, projector, cards C. Procedure * Warm up: Chatting - Are you interested in sports? - What sports do you often do in your freetime? - What sports do you do at school? - Are sports important to people’s health? Why? Why not? I. Pre-speaking 1. Vocabulary - Get students to do a matching exercise to revise the words. Activity (Finding friends) - T plays a video of the Olympic Games ( and gets students to talk freely about their knowledge of this sports festival (if possible). - T delivers prepared questions (to Team A and B) and answers about certain sports events (to Team C and D) - T gives students 3 minutes to determine what their delivered cards are about. - T asks Team A and Team B to quickly find the answers from Team B and C. Why didn’t people hold the Olympic Tokyo 2020? (Because of the widespread of the Covid – 19 pandemic) 10. Who has won the most medals at the Olympic ? ( Michael Phelps – an American swimmer with 28 in total - 23 gold/ 3 silver/ 2 bzone ones - Olympic 2014 – 2016) II. While-speaking Activity 1: (mapped dialogue) - T gets students to talk about their favorite sportsman. (T asks students to prepare a picture about their favorite sportsman/sportswoman from the previous lesson which is used in the conversation) - T gives students 5 minutes to work in pairs to answer the questions (open pairs/closed pairs) S1: Who is your favorite sportsperson? S2: ...................................................... S1: Why do you like him/her? S2: ...................................................... S1: What is her/his past achievement? S2: ....................................................... S1: What can you learn about him/her? S2: ...................................................... - T gets 4 pairs to represent their performance. - Do delayed correction ( if necessary) Activity 2: Talk about your favourite sportsman or woman. III. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Get information about a famous sportsman: Pele. - Information about some sportsmen/ sportswomen (name, age, countries they come from, fields, achievements ) 2. Competences: Communication, ability to use language ( ask and answer their sports activities), self-study ( read and answer the questions). 3. Quality: industriousness, responsibility, honesty. 4. Skills: - Read for the details of a famous football player. - Talk about their sports they often like to do in their free time. B. Teaching aids 1. Teacher: Text-book, projector, a picture of Pele. 2. Students: Text-books, notebooks... C. Procedure * Warm up: Chatting - T shows a picture of Pele and asks some questions: + Who is this ? + What is special about him? + Where does he come from? +What else do you know about him? I. Pre- Reading 1. Vocabulary: matching - well-known (a) = famous (a) : nổi tiếng - be regarded as (v) =be considered (v): được xem là. - professional (a): chuyên nghiệp - score a goal (v): ghi bàn 2. T/ F statements - T prepares some statements about the text ( some are true , some are false.) - Ss read the statements and guess which is true and which is false. a. Pele is 80 years old. b. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - listen for specific information about the sports/ games people play - write a short guided passage about the sport / game they like 2. Competence: self-learning ability, communication, capacity to use language to write, cooperation capacity, 3. Qualities: studious, responsibility and honesty. 4. Skills: listening, speaking, writing B. Teaching aids: Textbook, projector, loudspeaker. C. Procedures * Warm up: Brainstorm football sports - T divides class in 2 teams - In 2 mins: members from each team (one by one) come and write names of sports as much as possible - T gives feedback and mark. - T presents new lesson. I. Pre-listening: * T/ F prediction - Ss Look at the statements in 2, guess T/F before listening - T writes Ss’ guessing on the board 1. Hai plays chess everyday 2. “Angry Birds” is Bill’s favourite game 3. Alice doesn’t like doing sports very much 4. Trung is very good at playing football 5. Bill’s dream is to create a new game II.
