Son Tien Secondary School Lesson plan of English 6 Period 61st Planning date: 30/01/21 UNIT 7: TELEVISION Lesson 7: Looking back + Project A. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Revise the taught vocabulary about different jobs in TV, TV programme and different kinds of film. - Make questions with question words - Combine the sentences using the conjunctions. 2. Competence: Communication, co-operation, self-learning capacity, creative capacity 3. Quality: studious, responsible and honest 4. Skills: speaking, writing and reading B. Teaching aids: Textbook, pictures, projector. C. Procedures * Warm up: Brainstorm (2 teams) TV programmes - Ask 2 teams A& B to come to the board and write about known TV programmes - Give remarks and marks. I. Vocabulary 1. Activity 1/ Ex 1-P.14: Put the words in the correct columns. - Ask Ss to work in groups (3 of students) - T divides the each group into 3 kinds: N1 (people) N2 (programme) , N3 (kinds of film) - Each of Number find words in their column - Comment of each group. * Key People Programme Kinds of film newsreader cartoon documentary weathergirl game show romance writer animals MC home and garden 2. Activity 2/Ex 2-P.14: Fill in the text * Gap fill: - Have ss to be able to recognize the relationship of the target words and their content. - Ask Ss to work of in groups of five or six to fill in the blank with the words to complete the passage. - Ss write their answers on the poster and tick them on the board . - Give corrections if necessary. Activity 3: Question words Play a game : Lucky Numbers - T divides the class into 2 teams and play games. - The team with more scores will be the winner. - T asks Ss retell some question words: When Why Who How many What -Ss decide which question words is to be used. KEY: 1. How many 2. What 3. Why 4. Who 5. When 2. Activity 4. Ex 4- P14. Use the conjunction provided to connect the sentences. Game: Lucky Circles - Ss will choose a Number, read and combine the sentences . If their answers are right they’ll get marks in the circles. KEY: 1. Ocean Life is on at 7.30 and Laughing out Loud will follow at 8.00 2. I have watched The Seven Kities many times because I like the film so much 3. BBC One is a Bristish channel but VTV6 is Vietnamese channel 4. Although Along The Coast is a famous TV series, I have never watched it. 5. I have a lot of homework tonight, so I can’t watch Eight Feet Below. III. Communication 1. Activity 1/ Ex 5- P.14: Rearrange the order of the sentences to have a complete conversation about a TV programme. - Have Ss work in groups of four. - Ask Ss to order the correct conversation . - Call some pairs to practise the dialogue in front of class. Activity 2/ Ex 6- P.15: Recommend an interesting TV programme to your friends. Make a conversation based on the sample in 5. * Mapped dialogue - Ss make the dialogues and practice before the class. This is to introduce ss to a new way of learning and practising their learnt language outside the class. - Ask ss to organize their activity so that they will be able to ask questions, to take notes of the answers, to report the results to other people. - After have completed their task, T can use it for class discussion to see how much TV watching is enought/ good/ bad and the role of TV for children. V. Homework - Do again all exercises on their notebook. - Prepare; Unit 8: Getting started Period 62nd Planning date:30 01//21 UNIT 8: SPORTS AND GAMES Lesson1: Getting started A. Objectives 1. Knowledge: - By the end of this lesson, ss will be able to listen and read the conversation ;use the lexical items related to the topic “Sports and games” , understand activities at the gym, review vocabs about school things and use the combinations: go, play, do + N/V-ing. - Vocabulary: The lexical items related to the topic “Sports and games”. - Grammar: go, play, do + N/V-ing 2. Skills: Listening, reading and speaking 3. Competency orientation: - General competency: self-learning, problem solving, cooperation capability. - Specialized competency: - Using language to talk about Sports and games. 5. Quality: responsibility, hard-working, honesty. B. Procedures I. Warm up: Chatting + What do you do in your free time? + What sports do you like to play? + What games do you like to play? II. Pre-reading 1. Answer the following questions - T shows the picture of Mai and Duong on page 16. - T asks Ss: Who do you see in the picture ? Where are they ? What do you think they are talking about? - Ss answer 2. Comprehension questions - T asks Ss to work in pair to answer the questions 1a/P.17. - T gets feedback and gives corrections through “Lucky lots game”. Key : 1. Duong can play table tennis and do karate 2. Mai is (going to learn karate) 3. Because the equipment is modern and the people are friendly. 4. Duong played with Duy and won. 4. At the karate club Read again and find the expressions in the conversation. Check their meanings. + Wow : used to express surprise + Congratulations: used to congratulate somebody/ to tell Sb that you are pleased about their success. + Great: used to show admiration + See you : used when you say goodbye. Ss practise making dialogue with the expressions. Then practise them. III. While - reading 1. Activity 2/P.17: Listen and repeat the words and phrases. - T plays the recording . Let Ss listen and repeat. Check and correct their pronunciation - T gives them the meanings of words if necessary. - T may ask them if these sports and games are played in VN. 2. Activity 3/P.17: Name these sports and games - T asks Ss to write correct words in the spaces. - T Lets Ss check their answers. * Key: 1. cycling 2. table tennis 3. running 4. swimming 5. chess 6. skiing - T helps Ss differentiate between a sport and a game. A sport: An activity that you do for pleasure and that needs physical exercise. A game: An activity or a sport with rules in which people or teams compete against each other. 3. Activity 4/P.17: Put the words in correct groups - T asks Ss to work in pairs and put the words in the correct group. - T gets feedback and corrects. * Key: Play : chess, table tennis, volleyball, tennis. Do: boxing, aerobics, karate. Go : fishing, cycling, swimming, running, skiing. 5. Activity 5/P.17: Supply the correct verbs forms - T asks some Ss to write their answer on the board. Then let the class comment and give them the correct answer. Knowledge: - pronounce correctly the sounds /eə/ and /iə/ in isolation and in context - use vocabulary and structures about the topic “Sports and Games”. 2. Competence: - Communication, ability to use language: (ask/answer what sports the things are for) - Self-learning capacity: (find information about what sports the things are for) - Creative capacity: (making conversation) - Cooperation capacity (work in groups to finish the task) 3. Quality: hardworking, responsible and honest. 4. Skills: speaking 5. Grammar points B. Teaching aids: Ss’ books, textbook, projector C. Procedures * Warm up: Do you play sports: What is your favorite sport? When do you play it? How often do you often play it? 1.
