Exercise 1
Introduce the first content of the lesson through the table and the example (a) on the
board
Present the structures to talk about “if”
Eg:
- My grade is terrible
- If you want to get good grades, you must study hard
Notice ss about the rules when we change the position of the two clauses( the comma
is ommitted)
Ask ss to use the information in the box to complete the dialogues

words in reported speech: we have change the subject, verb, possesive adjectives, 
objects, adverbs of place, adverbs of time...

John Brown is a teacher. He went to University in 1982, and was one of the 
best students at that time. In 1990, he became a professor. He has been a senior 
lecturer since then. He is very well – known in his teaching career. 
He has written five books about education, including a book “How to teach 
deaf children” in 1995. He has been to Thailand, the Philippines, and Viet Nam to 
give lectures dealing with “disabled students and integrated education”. He is 
married to his assistant, Linda. They have two children. In the 1990s they lived in 
the suburb of London. Now they live in the center of the city. In fact, they have 
lived there since 2000.
