I. OBJECTIVES

 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to review the reported speech and compound words by doing exercises.

*Vocabulary: Review

*Grammar: - Passive voice in present simple, past simple, future simple tenses.

- Reported speech in statement.

- Compound words.

 2. Skills: doing grammar exercises skill

 3. Attitudes:

 - Positive about their lesson.

 - Students know how to learn English.

 - Ss are interested in doing exercises.

 4. Competence

 a. General capacity: self – study, communicative and collaborative, and problem solving ability.

 b. Specilized capacity: language capability

Students’: text book, note book III. METHODS, TECHNIQUES 1. Methods: Communicative approach, discussion group,. 2. Techniques: Eleciting, pair work, individual work IV. PROCEDURE 1. Organization - Greetings. - Who’s absent today? 2. Check the old lesson In the lesson 3. New lesson Activity 1. Warm up - Chatting with ss - T introduces the new lesson. Activity 2. Practice 1. The passive form - To remind the passive on the present, simple and future tense. Then make example (present): People grow rice in many part of Asia = Rice is grown in many part of Asia (past): Bell invented the telephone = The telephone was invented by Bell (future): They will build a new house next year = A new house will be built next year (present simple): S +am/is/are + P.P (past simple) : S + was/were + P.P (future simple):S + will +be +P.P Exercise 1 - Ask ss to do exercise 1: give the correct form of verb in bracket a. perform b. decorate c. make d. hold e. award f. write - Ss do exercise - Ss compare the answer with their friends - Call some ss to give answer - T corrects a. were performed b. was decorated c. is made d. will be held e. was awarded f. was written 2. Compound words Review the compound words: compound word = noun + V-ing Example: rice-cooking, fire-making contest, telling contest, bull-fighting, car-making, rice-exporting, clothes-washing ................. Exercise 3 - T guides ss to do exercise 3 Eg: It is a contest in which participants have to cook rice. → It is a rice-cooking contest. - Call on some students to go to the board and write their answer. - Correct mistakes and give answer keys. a. It's a fire-making contest. b. It's a bull-fighting festival. c. It's a car-making industry. d. It's a flower-arranging contest. e. It's a rice-exporting country. f. It's a clothes-washing machine. 3. Reported speech - Review the reported speech Eg. "I'm a student." -> She said she was a student. 1. Tenses Question speech Reported speech - Present simple - will - must → Past simple → Would → Had to 2. Pronouns: (depending on the subject of the main clause) 3. Adverbs of place and time This → that ... these → those Now → then ... Here → there ... To day → that day Tomorrow → the next day Yesterday → the day before Ago → before Exercise 4 - T explains the request of exercise - Ask ss to work in pair and do exercise - Call some ss go to the board and write the answer while others do orally - T gives correct answer a. He said he was a plumber b. He said he could fix the faucets c. He said the pipes were broken d. He said new pipes were very expensive e. He said Mrs Thu had to pay him then Activity 3. Expanding Remind all main points for ss. to remember and practice at home. V. HOMEWORK - Ss study the lesson and do exercise Write these sentences in reported speech. 1. "I will see you tomorrow" she said 2. "I don't like this film" he said 3. "I'm very happy" She said 4. "I can drive" she said Key 1. She said she would see me the next day. 2. He said he didn't like that film. 3. She said she was very happy. 4. She said she could drive. - Ss prepare for next lesson: Unit 14. Getting started+ Listen and read.
