Be going to - For intention and prediction - E.g: we are going to have a day off next week - The wind is strong the door is going to slam. 3.5. Modal verbs - must/ have to for obligation - ought to for advice 3.6. Reflexive pronoun I You We They She He It myself yourself/yourselves ourselves themselves herself himself itself V. CONSOLIDATION - Retell the contents of the lesson VI. Knowledge : - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to talk about past events and distinguish between fact and opinion. * Vocabulary: - belong to, folktale, traditional, equipment, light, lose, help, sound, look after. * Structure: - Review past simple tense - Used to + V 2. Skills: Speaking, listening, reading, writing. 3. Attitudes: - Positive about their lesson. - Students know how to learn English. - Ss are interested in doing exercises. 4. Competence a. Getting started: - Lead in to new lesson. - Introduce the content of the lesson. - Ask Ss to look at the picture in the text book and tell the things that not belong to the past in Viet Nam ago. - Guide Ss to write the things that don’t belong to the past. - Call some Ss to read their answers in front of the class. - Give the comment. Then give new words if have. The radio/ mobile phone/ lighting fixture/ school bag/ TV/ school uniform... 3.2. Listen and read: - Introduce the context/ content of the dialogue. - Let Ss to listen to the tape once. Then give new words and structures. *Form: S + used to + V-infinitive Eg: I used to stay home and help my mom. *Usage: describe the activities that usually happened and finished in the past. - Ss practice the dialogue in pairs. - Call some pairs to practice in front of the class. - Guide Ss to do exercise: Ask and answer the questions. - Call some Ss to give their answers. - Give the correct answers. a. She used to live on a farm. b. Because she had to stay home and help her mom.(She used to look after her brothers/ sisters) c. She used to cook the meals, clean the house and wash the clothes. d. Her great- grandmother used to lit the lamp and her great- grandfather used to tell them stories. e. Nga asked her grandmother to tell her the tale ‘The lost Shoes’. - Explain exercise 3: Fact/ opinion. Then give example. + Fact: I study English. I eat chicken. The rose is red. + Opinion: English is difficult/ easy. I don’t like chicken The rose is beautiful. - Guide Ss to do exercise: Fact or opinion? Check the boxes. - Call some Ss to give their answers. - Give the correct answers. a/ b/c/d: Fact e/f: Opinion V. CONSOLIDATION - Retell the contents of the lesson: the content of the dialogue, new words and the structure. VI. Knowledge : - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to talk about the different between the present and the past; listening to the main idea of the story. * Vocabulary: - building, house, foolish, greedy, gold, collect, discover, amazement. * Structures: - S + used to + V (review) 2. Skills: Speaking, listening. 3. Attitudes: - Positive about their lesson. - Students know how to learn English. - Ss are interested in doing exercises. 4. Competence a. General capacity: self – study, communicative and collaborative, and problem solving ability. b. Specilized capacity: language capability II. PREPARATION 1. New lesson: * Warm up: - Let Ss to play Happy Memories game S1: What sports did you use to play? S2: answer S1: Did you use to have a nickname? S2: answer S1: Did you use to cry when you were a small child? S2: answer - Ss work in pairs in 3 minutes. - T gives the comment Pre- speaking. - Introduce and explain the context in the lesson. - Ask Ss to look at the picture and answer the question: + What are the 2 pictures about? (past/ present) + Where is it? Gives your comments about the different between 2 pictures. - Ask Ss to call the item in the picture. - Give new words/ things about the past/ present. While - speaking: - Guide Ss to practice speaking: Talk about the past/ present. - Guide Ss to practice use structure: Used to + V-infinitive - Ask Ss to practice in pairs. - Call some pairs to practice in front of the class. - Gives the comment a. Where did they live in the past? And now? - People used to live in small house. Now they live in big house. b. How did they travel? - People used to walk. Now, they can go by cars or motorbikes. c. What’s about the electricity? - Now, there is electricity every where. d. What’s about their life/ work? - People used to work hard all the time. Now, they have a lot of time for entertainment. e. Did children use to go to school? - Most children used to stay at home. Now, they all go to school. f. What’s about their entertainment? - Children used to play traditional games such as hide and seek, skip rope.... Out door. Now, they have a lot of modern games. Post- speaking: - Ask Ss to tell about the things they used to last year. - Call some Ss to practice in front of the class. - Give the comment. Pre- listening: - Lead in: + Do you often read the story? + What kind of stories do you like? + Do you like folktale? - Introduce and explain the context in the listening. - Ask Ss to read the moral lesson in the text book. - Give new words. While- listening: - Ss listen to the tape and write the letter of the most suitable moral lesson. - Let Ss to share their answers with their partner. - Call some Ss to check their answers. - Give the correct answers. b. don’t be foolish and greedy Post- listening: - Guide Ss to retell the characters in the listening(chicken, husband, wife) Chicken: laid many eggs Husband: killed the chickens Wife: greedy V. CONSOLIDATION - Retell the contents of the lesson, new words and the structure. VI. HOMEWORK - Study the lesson. Talk about the things they used to in the past - Prepare Unit 4: Read
