Date of teaching: Period 81- Unit 15- GOING OUT A. Video games (A2) I. OBJECTIVES 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand video games and some disadvantages of playing video games. *Vocabulary: dizzy, social skill, invent/ inventor/invention *Grammar: Review should/ shouldn't. 2. Skills: reading skill 3. Attitudes: - Positive about their lesson. - Students know how to learn English. - Ss are interested in doing exercises. 4. Competence a. General capacity: self – study, communicative and collaborative, and problem solving ability. b. Specilized capacity: language capability II. PREPARATION 1. Teacher’s: lesson plan, text book 2. Students’: text book, note book III. METHODS, TECHNIQUES 1. Methods: Communicative approach, group Ss and T’s activities, teaching methods by practising, discussion group,. 2. Techniques: Eleciting, group work, pair work, individual work IV. PROCEDURE 1. Organization - Greetings. - Who’s absent today? 2. Check the old lesson Call 2 ss go to the board and read the dialogue in previous lesson and answer some questions: How long does Nam usually stay? And Why must be Nam careful? 3. New lesson Activity 1. Warm up - Chatting with ss + Do you like playing video games? + How often do you play video games? + How long do you usually spend playing video games? + What do you think about playing video games? - Introduce the new lesson Activity 2. New form of knowledge skills A2. Listen and read - Introduce the situation of the lesson, then ask students to do an exercise: True or False prediction. 1. Children like playing video games because they are good fun. 2. It’ s very good for children to spend too much time on their own. 3. Playing video games for a long time will make the children become tired. 4. Children mustn’t play outdoors with their friends. 5. Some inventors become rich when they are very young. - Have students work in groups. - Call on some groups to give their prediction. - Ask SS to look at the books and listen to the tape then check their prediction - Call on some students to give the answers. - Correct and give the correct answers 1.T 2. F 5.T - Have students listen to the tape again and introduce some new words dizzy (adj): hoa mắt, choáng váng social skill (n): kỹ năng xã hội invent (v): phát minh inventor (n): người phát minh invention (n): sự phát minh * Grammar Review should/ shouldn't. Should/ shouldn’t + Vinf. Activity 3. Practice - Ask students to read the text in silent. - Call on 3or 4 students to read the text aloud. - Correct their pronunciation. - Have students read the text again to do exercise - Have students exchange the results with the partners. - Call on some students to give the answers in front of the class. - Correct the mistake and give the correct answers. a) Many young people play video games. b) Some inventors of video games become very rich. c) The doctor thinks all children should take part in outdoor activities with their friends. d) The doctor says you should spend little time playing video games. - Have students write in the notebooks. Activity 4. Further practice - Have students work in groups discussing about the disadvantages of playing video games. - Call on some groups to demonstrate their ideas in front of the class. - T and others comment. - Ss make sentences with should/ shouldn’t Activity 5. Expanding Remind all main points for ss. to remember and practice at home. V. HOMEWORK - Ss study the lesson - Ss prepare for next lesson: B1.
