I. Warm – up: Hangman

1. Pre – teach vocabulary
- comprise (v): bao gồm (synonym): include

- Islam (n): Đạo hồi (translation)
- religion (n): tôn giáo (translation)
- compulsory (adj): bắt buộc (translation)
- primary language (n): ngôn ngữ chính (explanation)

A. Aims

write a letter to their family.

B. Procedure
I. Warm up: Chatting
- Have you ever written to anyone? To whom?
- Have you ever visited anywhere?
- Where did you go? And when?
- How did you go?
II. Pre- Writing:
Set the scene: “Image you’re visiting your relatives or friend in another part
of Vietnam or in different countries. Write a letter to your family”.
• Brainstorm: What topics do you write in your letter?

- Have Ss work in groups of four to choose a place in Viet Nam, e.g.: Dalat,
Nha Trang
- Ask Ss to read the out line
- Ask: + Which tenses are often used in this letter?
• Past simple

chosen above.

- Call some Ss to read their writing test
- Correct mistakes
Model letter:
Dear Lan,
I arrived at Hoi An bus station at 2.00 o’clock on Monday. My friend,
Hien, took me to her home by taxi.
I’ve gone swimming at the beach in the morning. I’ve visited the ancient
bridge and taken a lot of photos. I’ve met some Chinese tourists. We’ve had
dinner together and eaten some spring rolls. I’ve bought some special
souvenirs for you.
I feel so happy and enjoy myself so much. The people here are very
friendly and hospitable. The foods are delicious and the sights are so
beautiful. I will go home on Sunday. Please take me at the airport?
