OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: read a text about special vehicles and give facts or opinions. 2. Competence: Communication, ability to use language, self-learning capacity, creative capacity 3. Quality: hardworking, responsible and honest. 4. Skills: reading and speaking 5. Grammar points: use will for future prediction Vocabulary: lexical items related to future means of transport and movement. B. TEACHING AIDS: Ss’ books, textbook, projector, C. PROCEDURES * Warm up: Brainstorming: car Means of transport bike means of transport I. Pre -reading 1. What do you think is the connection between them? - Ss work in pairs. - Ask Ss to look at the pictures and describe what they see. If the pictures are too small, T can prepare bigger photos of a hover scooter, a monowheel, and a segway. Help Ss to find out the connection between the pictures by asking questions such as: How many people can travel on them? Do not give the names of the vehicles at this point. Suggested answers: These are all personal of transport. One person can travel on them. They are all used for ground transport. People control them by using handle bars II. While- Reading 1. Activity 1:work in pairs - Ss work in pairs then compare the answers with their partners. Key: 1. invention 2. flop 3. weird 2. Activity 2:work in pairs - Ss work in pairs to complete the task. Ask Ss to underline the words in the text that help them to find the answers. - For more able class, ask Ss if they agree or disagree with what the author says and why. Key: 1. The Segway. 2. Activity 3: work in pairs (.speaking) Explain the Stydy Skill box for opinion signal words. T may bring in some photos or write on the board some interestiong topics and ask Ss for their opinions. Ask Ss to use opinion signal words where possible. Remind Ss of the difference between a fact and an opinion that they have learnt in Getting Satrted. Ss work in pairs to complete the task. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: listen for specific information about inventions of future means of transport and write a paragraph about future means of transport. 2. Competence: Communication, ability to use language, self-learning capacity, creative capacity 3.Quality: hardworking, responsible and honest. 4. Skills: listening and writing 5.Grammar points: use will for future prediction Vocabulary: lexical items related to future means of transport and movement. B. TEACHING AIDS: Ss’ books, textbook, projector, card C. PROCEDURES * Warm up: Chatting: Which transport do you think of in the future? I. Pre- Listening: 1. Set the scence: 2. Activity 1: work in pairs: Discussing: - Look at the picture. Which do you think are the correct options below. - Ss' opinion. - Have Ss guess the answers first. Tell Ss that the questions ask about what they think, and not what is true about the vehicle. Remind them to use opinion signal words where possible. Do not give corrective feedback. - Accept all answers from Ss and ask them to explain why they think so. 3.Activity2.work in pairs Now listen and check your answers. - .Play the recording and ask Ss to check their answers in 1. Learning to drive the car is simple. ￿ 3.Activity 3:work in group of 4 (writing) Write a short paragraph about a future means of transport in this unit. Include both facts and your opinions about the vehicle. - Refer to the text in Reading to support Ss in this task. - name of mean of transport. - how it looks - how its functions. - what you think about it. IV. Post-listening : 1.Activity 1:work in groups (writing) - Swap your writing with your partner. Find which sentences are facts, and which ones are opinions. Do you agree or disagree with your friend's opinions? - Have Ss swap their writing with each other. Ask them to identify facts and opinions. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - cover the whole unit: Grammar, vocabularies and structures. Ss apply them to do exercises. - talk about traffic problems and give solutions. 2. Competence: Communication, ability to use language, self-learning capacity, creative capacity 3.Quality: hardworking, responsible and honest. 4. Skills: listening and writing ,speaking 5.Grammar points: use will for future prediction; Possessive pronouns Vocabulary: lexical items related to future means of transport and movement. B. TEACHING AIDS: Ss’ books, textbook, projector, card C. PROCEDURES Warm up: Chatting: Ss talk about their future means of transport. I. Activity 1 1. vocabulary . Use the clues in the two pictures to form a phrase. (EX1- p56) - Have Ss work individually to combine the pictures together to form a phrase. b.solar-powered taxi c. driverless plane d. space car e. underwater bus. 2. Complete this table. work in groups (Ex2-p56) - Ss first work individually, then work in groups to fill the table. Transport possibilities in the future. Activity 2 . Grammar a. Possessive pronouns - Explain that we use possessive pronouns to avoid repeating information. Draw Ss' attention to the table: The personal pronouns I, you, she, he, it, we, they, correspond the respective possessive adjectives my, your, his, her, its, our, their, and the respective possessive pronouns mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, theirs. b.Internation: + We use “rising” intonation for Y/N questions. + We use “falling” intonation for Wh- questions. (EX3-P56) - Ss work in pairs then compare their answers with each other. Key 1.mine 2. yours 3.theirs 4. hers 2. Look at the information about skycycling tubes. Then write a description of this means of transport using will and won't.(EX4 -P56) -work in groups - Ss write the text and swap with each other for peer comments. Skycycling tubes will be easy to drive . 3.Communication-.work in pairs- Complete the dialogues using will (+) or won't (-))- .(EX5 -P56 - Ss work in pairs then compare their answers with each other. 1. (I don't know).Perhaps we won't travel in driveless cars in the future. 2. Will we have high speed trains in the next five years? Yes, maybe we will 3. I think we will have electric taxis very soon. Oh, I think we won't have them until the year 2030. IV.Activity 4 : work in groups Project. - Encourage Ss to draw picturesor use videos to illustrate their ideas. They may use posters or prepare a presentation using computer if possible. Our own future transport. In groups, brainstorm ideas for your future means of transport. Think about the following: + Where does it travel? Does it fly, float, drive or something else? + How does it travel? Do you pedal it?..... *Homework - Learn new words and phrases. - Exercise: Workbook - Prepare for the second term test. OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, Ss will have been able to: 1. Knowledge - use the lexical items related to the topic “An overcrowded world”. - know the reasons that cause an overcrowded world and the effects. 2. Competence: - self-learning, problem solving, cooperation capability. - Using language to talk about problems of increasing population.. 3. Quality: responsibility, hard-working, honesty. 4. Skills: - Listening, reading and speaking 5. Grammar points : Less, fewer.. B. TEACHING AIDS: Computer, speaker, projector, posters. C. PROCEDURES: I. Warm up: - Greetings - Chatting: ask and answer about the population of some areas in Viet Nam or in the world. - Which city in Viet Nam has the most population? - Do you know what the population in Ha Noi/ Hue/ Da Nang/ Ho Chi Minh is? II. Pre – reading. 1. Listen, read the dialogue and tick T / F statements: - T plays the recording and asks ss to listen. - Ss listen to the new words carefully. - Ss read the conversation individually and tick T/ F. Post- reading Activity 1 : Writing - Ss work in groups of five: discuss and write a list of the problems connected to an overcrowded area. * Ex: There is not enough space to play in. - Ask ss to share their list with other groups. - Show some of them on the board -> give comment and correct Activity2: Speaking “describe a person or a place” - Ask some of good ss to use the words in 2 to describe a person or a place they know. * Ex: I visit my native village every year. I love the peaceful atmosphere there. D. HOMEWORK: - Learn by heart vocabulary. - Read the conversation again and redo exercises in textbook. - Prepare A closer look 1 for the following lesson.
