Son Tien Secondary School Lesson plan of English 6 Period 22nd Planning date: 25/10/20 UNIT 3: MY FRIENDS Lesson 7: Looking back + Project A. Aims By the end of the lesson, Ss can review vocabulary about body parts and appearance personality, use the present continuous for future, make a class yearbook. - Grammar: the present continuous for future - Lexical items: body parts and appearance personality - Skills: reading, writing, speaking - Teaching aids: Posters, pictures, loudspeaker B. Procedure I. Vocabulary 1. Activity 1: Write the correct words on the faces + boring (a): hơi buồn, chán + funny (a): buồn cười, vui vẻ + sporty ( a): thích thể thao + patient (a): kiên nhẫn - Ss draw 2 faces and write the correct words. - Ss can check their answers before discussing the answers. - Ss can add more words to the faces. 2. Activity 2: Make your own Haiku - T explains: Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. There are 3 lines in a Haiku: the first and the last lines have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. - Ss read the Haiku in the textbook. - T asks Ss to create their own Haiku. Feedback: Ss work in groups of 4 to exchange their poems and Ss guess which poem describes which person. II. Grammar 1. Activity 3: Who’s who? (Guessing games) - Ss work in groups of 4 to choose a member of group and write a short description of him /her. - Ss see the example and take part in this game. 2. Activity 4: Complete the dialogue - T elicits the language being practiced in this activity: the present continuous for future. - T asks Ss to complete the conversation individually. - Ss can share answers with their partners. III. Communication Activity 5 - T divides Ss into pairs of As and Bs. - T reminds Ss to only look at their own schedule. - Ss complete the communication activity. - As and Bs can share what they’ve learn about their partners’ schedule. - Feedback: Ss practice asking and talking about future plans. IV. Project MY CLASS YEARBOOK - T shows Ss some examples of yearbooks and explains what a yearbook is and why Ss like to make them. - Ss discuss the appearance and the descriptions of their examples. - Ss discuss how to make their yearbook pages interesting. V. Aims By the end of the lesson, Ss can review what they have learnt from unit1-2-3 and practice doing exercises - Grammar: present simple, present continuous. - Skills: listening, reading, speaking, write. - Teaching aids: Posters, pictures, loudspeaker B. Procedure I. Presentation 1. Warm up: a. Complete the words E_ _ l_ _ _ h_ _ _ w_ _ _ l_ _ _ h s_ _ r_ _ b_ _ m_ _ _ _n p_ _ s_ _ _ l_ _ _ o_ j_ _ _ - Ss do this individually on the board. - T checks Ss’ answers. b. Now write the words in the correct groups: + play: + do: .. + have : .. + study : .. c. Write the names of the school things and furniture in the house in two groups pen book /p/ /b/ - T can organize this as a game. - Ss do this in groups. - The group that find the most correct words will be the winner. d. Games: Lucky number (poster) - Elicits the use of the present simple and the present continuous tenses. - Ask Ss to play this game as an exercise. 1. We can’t go out now. It (rain) 2. There (be) a lamp, a computer and some books on my desks. 9. Lucky. III. Production: Picture dictation: - Listen to the teacher and then draw: This is my living room. There is a sofa in front of the window. There is a lamp next to the sofa. In front of the sofa is a table. There is a vase of flowers on the table. Around the table are four chairs. There are two pictures on the wall. A clock is between two pictures. - Ss listen and draw. - After finishing drawing, Ss share their drawings with their partners. - T can choose some good pictures to exhibit on the board. IV. Homework - Do test yourself, Ex 1 ,7, 9 in textbook - Revise the grammar points - Complete the following sentences. a. Would / like / have / some chicken ? b. Can / close / door/ me ? c. He / short / black / hair. d. Nga / friendly/ confident. e. She / have / chubby / cheeks. f. My mother / not / curious. g. There / a pen / the table h. There / two / picture / wall? i. Procedure 1. Warm up: Do the crossword puzzles: Ss’ book (p36) - T guides Ss to do this. - Ss do , T checks and corrects . 2. Reading: (P2) a. Pre- reading: Look at nouns and guess the numbers related to the information + 1000 : student(s) + 26 : class(es) + 40 : teacher(s) + 3 : building(s) + 1 : yard(s) + 5 : club(s) b. While- reading: - Read the text and check your predictions - Answer the questions: + Where is the writer’s new school? + What are the students like ? + What are the teachers like ? + How many clubs are there in the school? + Why does the author love the school ? c. Read the e-mail and choose A,B or C to complete the blanks: Key: 1- A 2- C 3- C 4- B 5- A 6- B 3. Listening: (part 4) - T plays the recording once for Ss to listen. - Play the recording again for Ss to check their answers. - Announce the answers to Ss. Key: kitchen garden living room bedroom - (Part 5) Ask Ss to quickly read the questions Ss listen to the recording again and answer the questions . Ss compare their answers before giving T their answers. Key: 1, She is watering the plants in the garden. 2, He’s listening to the radio. 3, He’s in Mi’s bedroom. Include this information: + Who the person is. + How old he/ she. + What his/her job is/was. + What he/she likes doing. + What he/she does for you. - T elicits parts of an e-mail. - Ask Ss to work in 6 groups to do this activity. - T goes around to observe. - Give each group a large-sized piece of paper to write their e-mail. - Ask one or two groups to stick their finished product on the board. - Other Ss and T give comments. - Then T collects some e-mails to correct at home. 5. Speaking: Interview two classmates. Ask them what they like and dislike about your school and the reasons why. Write their answers in the table and report them to the class.
