Lesson 7: Looking back + Project
A. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Have a brief overview of the houses in the future
- Use the lexical items related to the topic “Our houses in the Future”
- Use “Will” to talk about the future and’ Might’ about future possibilty.
- Talk about the dream house.
2. Competence: Communication, co-operation, self-learning capacity, creative
capacity
3. Quality: studious, responsible .
4. Skills:speaking, writing and reading
5.Grammar points: Will , Might
B. Teaching aids: Textbook, pictures, projector, loudspeaker.
C. Procedures
I. Warm up
Matching ( EX 1 P46)
- Ask Ss to match the words to the pictures.
- Give remarks and marks.
II. Vocabulary
1. Activity 1/ Ex 2-P.46
- Play games: finding friends
- T divides the class into 4 teams: A, B,C, D.
- Team A and B hold the cards with the six words; Team C and D hold the cards
with What the appliances will do in the future.
- T asks Team A and Team B to quickly find the correct meanings from team C
and D. The teams with more correct answers and also the faster will be the
winner.

V. Project.
Activity 1 Talking about the Future Appliance
In the previous lesson (Communication), T told Ss to work in groups of 5 or 6 at
home. ‘ Think about
An appliance you would like to have in the future. Make a poster for your future
appliances. Write detail about the appliance on the poster.
Teacher Asks Groups hang the posters on the board and talk about the future
appliance.

C. Procedures
I. Presentation
1. Warmer:
- Check up vocabulary (environmental problems).
- Say something about causes and effects of environmental problems
+ Air pollution: causes breathing problems; lung cancer
+ Soil pollution: makes plants die; poor crops .
+ Deforestation: Makes animals die; causes floods
2. Vocabulary:

II. Practice
1. Activity 1: Matching symbols, words and meaning.
- Have Ss read the information in the table and draw a line from a symbol in
column A to the matching word in column B and meaning in column C.
- Students work in pairs to compare their answers before giving teacher the
answers. Check and write the correct answers on the board.
Key: Symbol 1: Reuse: using something again.
Symbol 2: Reduce: using something less.
Symbol 3: Recycle: creating new products from used materials.
* Watch out: Can you tell the difference between recycling and reusing?
- Elicit the difference between 'recycling' and 'reusing' from ss. Explain the
different between these two terms again:
+ Recycling that means reprocessing an old item such as newspaper, a glass or a
can and turning it into a new product. For example, used paper is brought to a
factory where it is reprocessed, cleaned and purified. This paper is then used to
make new things such as books or newspaper.
+ Reusing means avoiding the reprocessing procedure. It is when people use
something over and over again until it cannot be used any more. For example, a
used plastic bottle can be used again as flower vases, or a butter container can
be used to grow a small plant.
2. Activity 2: Write a word in the box under each picture.
- Ask ss to work in pairs to do this activity.
- Call on ss from different pairs to go to the board and write the words.
- Check the meaning of some words. Ask ss to copy.
- Get ss to repeat the words. Call some ss to say again.

3. Activity 3: Put the words into groups
- In pairs, ss put the words from exercise 2 in appropriate groups. One word can
belong to more than one group.
- Draw the table on the board and call three ss to go to the board and write their
answers.

- Present the sounds /a:/ and /ỉ/ and the way to pronounce them.
- Ask ss to give examples.
a. Activity 5: Listen and repeat
- Have some ss read out the words first. Play the recording for them to listen and
repeat the words. Play the recording as many times as necessary.
b. Activity 6: Listen and put the words in the correct column.
- Play the recording again. Ask ss to put the words in the correct column while
they listen. Ss compare their answers in pairs before teacher checks the answers
with the whole class.

d. Activity 8: Listen to the conversation and check your answers. Practise the
conversation with a classmate. (Optional)
- Play the recording and pause after each word which has the underlined 'a' for ss
to check their answers.
- Play the recording again for ss to repeat each line of the conversation. Ss work
in pairs to practice the conversation.
- Call on some pairs to act out the conversation. Encourage them not to look at
the book.
III. Production
1. Game: Who is faster?
- Write the two sounds /a:/ and /ỉ/ in bubbles on the board.
- Have ss play the game in 2 groups to practice vocabulary and the sound /a:/ and
/ỉ/.
2. Activity 4: Listening (Optional)
- Play the recording for ss to listen to the song. Play the recording again for ss to
sing along. Ask some ss to sing the song.
IV. Homework
- Learn by heart vocabulary.
- Practice the sounds.
- Do exercises part A
