UNIT 1: MY NEW SCHOOL
Lesson 6: Skills 2
A. Aims
By the end of the lesson, Ss can listen to get information about school activities,
write a webpage for their school, using correct punctuation.
- Teaching aids: Posters, pictures, loudspeaker
B. Procedure
I. Warm up: Asking - answering
II. Pre- listening
- Give the full name of PLC Sydney (Presbyterian Ladies’ College Sydney)
- T introduces Susie Brewer – a student of PLC Sydney
III. While-listening
- T plays the recording.
- Ask Ss to listen only the first time.
- Then play the recording again and allow Ss to choose the correct answers as
they listen
- Ss can share their answers before listening to the recording a final time to
check

IV. While-writing: A web page for your school
- T tells the Ss the importance of punctuation marks.
- Allow some time for them to study the writing tips.
Explain to them the new words and punctuation marks.
+ Does your writing have correct punctuation?
+ Capital letters for: starting sentences, names, days and months, the pronoun I
and places
+ Pauses and endings: commas to separate by sentences and lists of things.
+ Full stops, question marks, or exclamation marks are put at the end of the
sentences.
Ask Ss to correct the punctuation in the sentences in their notebooks.
Then call 5 Ss to write 5 sentences on the board.
Let the class comment and check.
Teacher finally gives correction.

*Ask Ss to correct the passage and write the correct version.

Hi. I’m Phong and I’m from HCM City. I wear my uniform to school every day.
My favorite teacher is Mr Trung. He teaches me science.
* Create a webpage for your school:
- First Ss brainstorm for the language necessary for writing.
- Allow Ss to refer back to the reading for useful language and note interesting
expressions and language on the board.
- T can also show a webpage to inspire Ss.
- Tell Ss to write a draft first, trying to answer all the questions.
- Then Ss write a paragraph of about 80 words about their school, covering as
many ideas as possible of the answers to these questions.
- Tell Ss to pay attention to punctuation, structural elements, linking words
- Ss have 7 minutes to write their webpage of their school.
- After finishing, Ss share their writing with their friends.
- One or two Ss read or write on the board.

Lesson 7: Looking back + Project
A. Aims
By the end of the lesson, Ss can review the present simple and the present
continuous, the grammar points they have learnt and write about their dream
school.
- Teaching aids: Posters, pictures, loudspeaker
B. Procedure
I. Warm-up: Ask-answer
II. Presentation/ Practice
1. Vocabulary
- project: dự án (translation)

- Ss write the words that match the pictures
- Tell Ss to write the words in their notebooks. Then T corrects the mistakes. Let
them repeat the words. Check their pronunciation.
- Ss look at the pictures and do this exercise. T asks some Ss to write the
sentences on the board

- 4,5,6 for these exercises, ask Ss to do them individually first. Then they can
check their answers with a partner before discussing the answers as a class.
However, tell Ss to keep a record of their record of their original answers so they
can use that information in their Now you can .statement.

III. Communication
Ss read the questions and answers once or twice (they can read aloud), then
match them. If there is time, have them write all the sentences their notebooks.

T models the way to ask and answer with a student, then divide Ss into groups.
Ss work in group and take turn to draw a cat in the house in the book. Other Ss
ask questions to find the cat
T goes around to observe Ss working, correct their mistakes and discuss them
with the whole class.
IV. Project
Activity 1: (group work)
- One of the Ss in the group asks other group members question 1 and fills the
information in the following table

Activity 2:
- Ss draw their dream school and tell the group about their school. Alternatively,
each group can draw a dream school together then tell the class about their
school. The class vote for the best school. If there is no time left, this part can be
done at home as homework
V. Homework:
- Review the words, make sentences with prepositions of place
- Write about a dream school.

UNIT 2: MY HOME
Lesson 1: Getting started
A. Aims
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know some basic vocabulary about
types of houses, use preposition of place and read for specific information about
rooms and houses understand the conversation
- Grammar: preposition of place
- Lexical items: sofa, center, noisy, move, apartment, near, cousin.
- Teaching aids: Posters, pictures, loudspeaker
B. Procedure
I. Warm up: Questions
- Where is your house?
- Is it big or small?
- How many rooms are there? What are they?
- Who do you live with?
- Do you love your home?
II. Presentation: Teacher sets the scene by asking Ss about the picture
- What are Nick and Mi doing?
- What are they talking about?
1. Pre - teach vocabulary:
