Aims By the end of this lesson, Ss can pronounce correctly the sounds /t/ and /st/ use lexical items related to things in nature and travel items - Skills: Listening, reading, writing - Teaching aids: Posters, pictures, loudspeaker B. Procedure I. Warm up - T: Imagine you are going to have a picnic, What things can you bring with? - Ss make a list of items related to travel II. Vocabulary + plaster: băng dán + walking boots : đôi ủng + painkillers thuốc giảm đau + sun cream: kem chống nắng + scissors: cái kéo + sleeping bag: túi ngủ + backpack: ba lô ==>Check: W&W 1. Match the items with the pictures (activity 1) Key: 1. Painkillers 2. Scissors 3. Plaster 4. Sun cream 5. Sleeping bag 6. Walking boots 7. T asks Ss to work in group of 4/5 to discuss about the importance of these things in travel, put the items in order from the most useful to the least useful (activity 3) 3. Gap-fill a. We’re lost. Emphasize that /s/ is a long sound, /st/ is a long sound with a “stop”. - Play the recording once and ask Ss to number the words in the order they hear them. Allow Ss to compare their answers. Then play the recording the second time. Discuss the answers as a class. Key: best boat coat lost boot desert plaster forest - Listen and repeat. Pay attention to the bold- typed parts of the words. Play the recording of the sentences. Ask Ss to listen carefully and raise their hands when they hear the /t/ or /st/ sounds. Aims By the end of this lesson, Ss can use comparatives and superlatives to describe things in nature, use MV must to give advice - Grammar: comparatives and superlatives; “Must” - Skills: Reading, listening, writing - Teaching aids: Posters, pictures, loudspeaker B. Procedure I. Warm up Tell the names of some famous places in our country or in the world Eg: - West Lake in Ha Noi - Phong Nha Cave in Quang Binh - Pyramids in Egypt II. Listening 1. Pre- listening: T/F quiz - Choose a more able St to act as Vy, and read the sentences to the class. Ss tick True or False in the box provided. You can check Ss’ answers by the sentences again, asking Ss to stand if they think the sentence is true, or remain seated if they think the sentence is false. 2. While listening: Ss work in pair to do activity: Key: 1T 2T 3F 4T 5T 6T - Play the recording and allow Ss to check their answers. OK, everyone. Aims After this lesson, sts will be able to know more about natural wonders of the world. Sts use must/ mustn’t to talk about traveling plan/ their preparation for their trip to the Himalayas. - Skills: speaking - Teaching aids: pictures, projector, computer. B. Procedures I. Warm up: “ Game ” Secret doors Introduction: T shows out 6 pictures and asks sts to answer the questions: What and Where is it? - Class is divided into teams. If sts in each team has correct answer they will choose one door to open and get points (from 10 to 100 points ). Do you know Where Himalayas is? (It is the world highest mountains between China and Nepal.) - T shows the short film of climbing up Himalayas II. Pre-speaking a) Set the scene: 1) T: Have you ever gone climbing? Do you want to climbing on the Himalayas? Aims After this lesson, Ss will be able to can practice prediction in reading comprehension Skills and speaking Skills to talk about natural beauty - Skills: Reading, speaking - Teaching aids: pictures, projector, computer. B. Procedures I. Introduction - T asks Ss to look at it for 2 minutes and try to remember as much as they can. - T asks the class to cover the page and tell T what they remember. - T elicits answers by asking: What is the purpose of the text? Where can you see these posters? What are they about? Travel tips and study Skills Use a dictionary: – Guessing words in context + Guess the meanings + Look at the whole sentence + Look at the pictures and any other information II. Reading 1. Look at the picture then read and check your ideas. - T asks Ss to open their books and read quickly to check their predictions. - T sets 2 minutes limit to ensure Ss read quickly for information. 1. Where is the passage from? - It is from a magazine/newspaper 2. What is it about? - It is about natural beauty in Viet Nam. 3. What do you know about the subject? I think the subject is about some famous and wonderful places for visiting in VN 2.
