Activity 2. New form of knowledge skills 
a. The simple present tense ( Thì hiện tại đơn) 
* USAGE: Thì htđ diễn tả những hành động diễn ra hằng ngày, diễn tả 
những thói quen hoặc sự thật hiển nhiên. 
* Form 
With “to be” 
(+) S + to be(is/am/are) + N ( I+ am 
 You/ We/ They/ Ns + are 
 He/ She/ It/ N + is) 
(-) S + to be + not + N 
(?) To be + S + N ? Yes, S+ tobe 
 No, S+tobe + not. 
Eg. She is a teacher. 
She is not a teacher. 
Is she a teacher? – Yes, she is. 
Ordinary verb ( động từ thường) 
(+) S + V/ V(s/es) (I/ We/ They/ You/ Ns + V(inf) 
 He/ She/ It/ N/ Lan + V(s/ es) 
(-) S + do/ does + not + V(inf) I/ You/ We/ They/ Ns + do 
 He/ She/ It/ N/ Lan +does 
(?) Do/ Does + S + V(inf)? Yes, S+ do/does. 
 No, S + do/ does + not. 
Eg: She likes English. 
She doesn't like English. 
Does she like English? 
Note: Khi chủ ngữ là số ít hoặc là HE, SHE, IT thì ta phải thêm “S” hoặc 
“ES” cho động từ. Với những động từ tận cùng là o, s, sh, ch, x, z, ta thêm “ES”, 
những trường hợp còn lại thêm “S”. Ví dụ: watch → watches, live → lives. 
Riêng động từ tận cùng bằng “Y” mà trước ý là một phụ âm thì ta đổi “Y” thành 
“I” rồi thêm ES. Ví dụ: study → studies, carry → carries, fly → flies. 
Câu hỏi có từ để hỏi (Question word) 
* Wh-question + do / does + V(inf)? 
What does he do in his free time? 
Trạng từ đi kèm 
- always, usually, sometimes, occasionally, frequently, seldom, rarely, 
scarcel, never. 
- In the mornings 
- every, once, twice, three times 
b. Present progressive tense 
* Usage: Diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra tại thời điểm nói. 
* Form 
(+) S + tobe + V-ing ( I+ am 
 You/ We/ They/ Ns + are 
 He/ She/ It/ N + is) 
(- ) S + tobe + not + V-ing 
(?) Tobe + S + V-ing? 
Eg. He is playing soccer. 
He is not playing soccer. 
Is he playing soccer? 
* Wh-question + tobe + S + V-ing? 
Eg. Why are you learning English? 
Dấu hiệu nhận biết 
- Now, at the moment, at present 
- Dùng với các động từ : Look!, Listen!, Be careful!... để thu hút sự chú ý 
của người khác 
Look! The bus is coming.
